Donating Books

What can you donate?

 

The Friends of the Stonecrest Library accepts donations of books and other types of media for our book sales to raise funds in support of the Stonecrest Library.  You can donate the following:

 

1. Gently used paper or hardcovered books on all subjects, of all ages, for all ages.

2. Recorded books on tapes or compact discs.

 

3. Pre-recorded audio and video tapes.

 

4. Records, compact discs, sheet music.

 

5. Specialist magazines (cooking, fine woodworking, military, etc).

 

6. Cultural magazines (less than 2 years old).

 

7. Vintage magazines (early 1900s - 1950s).

 

8. Computer programs (last 5 years).

 

9. Board games and puzzles (complete with no missing pieces).

 

10. Computer games (must have manufacturer's disc).

 

11. Crossword, Sudoku, and other puzzle books (clean and unsolved).

Books and other media should be brought to the Stonecrest Library at  3123 Klondike Road, Lithonia, GA 30038

 

When to Donate?

 

Donations may be left only during library hours. 

 

How to Donate?

 

We appreciate your delivering donations in boxes (cardboard, wood, plastic, any shape or size) or in shopping bags (plastic or paper) if you have them. Please remove or black out any personal information from the donated materials.

Please do not donate the following:

 

1. Books that are in a poor or bad condition, i.e. having one or more of the following:

 

2. Broken spine, missing pages or covers

 

3. Water, food or other stains 

 

4. Mildew; rot

 

5. Acessively yellowed pages

 

6. Crudely, heavily or excessively annotated, highlighted, underlined or otherwise marked
