ABOUT FRIENDS OF STONECREST LIBRARY

What is a Friend?

Friends are people just like you who are committed to the development and support of a quality, community-oriented public library system. Throughout the history of the DeKalb County Public Library, Friends are strong believers that accessible library service is not a luxury, but a necessity in every community and neighborhood.

What do we do?

We provide support and additional resources to Stonecrest Library through book sales, contributions, fundraisers, grants, In-Kind donations, membership drives and other activities. FOSL promotes literacy, cultural events and sponsor programs of interest to the community and library advocacy. We provide volunteers support for our children's and adult programs, an outlet for donating book (with a tax deduction) and an opportunity to purchasing books inexpensively through our quarterly book sales. Priority is given to projects that instill the excitement of discovery and the love of reading in library patrons of all ages.

Our Location

Our office is located inside the Friends of Stonecrest Library Bookstore.

Our History

On August 15, 2011, seventeen people attended a meet and greet held by Teresa Totten, then Branch Manager of the library to launch The Friends of Stonecrest Library organization. The Friends of Stonecrest Library has a history of supporting easy access to information, ideas, books, exhibits, musicals and technology that enrich, educate and empower every individual who walks through Stonecrest Library doors.
